A bastion of Bunyip

27 Jul, 2009 09:42 AM
VOLUNTEER Sue Beattie has received the 2009 Stan Henwood Award for her work for the Bunyip community.

The award is presented in memory of Stan Henwood, a tireless volunteer from Tynong.

In the past 20 years, Sue has volunteered with the Hillview Bunyip Aged Care Facility, Red Cross, Bunyip Progress Association, Bunyip Township Committee, Bunyip Medical Centre and Bunyip Football Club. She also helped to establish the Bunyip community shop.

Cardinia mayor Bill Pearson said Mrs Beattie deserved the award.

"She is energetic and forward thinking and the community of Bunyip is very lucky to have her."

The award was presented by Mr Henwood's widow, Bev, and daughter, Denise Davidson.
